As I woke up this morning to a beautiful fall day in Osaka, I was a half day closer to my birthday, the big 50, than if I had stayed in my own time zone. It is coming up fast. Yes, I am thinking, reflecting, trying to stay cool and not over think or analyze it too much. Should I mark these last hours of my 40s, the last hours of pre-half century mark. Yes of course in a way that i see fit--just be in the moments. Live them and love them. They will pass and that will be that. Then, forward.
I will mark the passing with a good meal, prayers of all sorts and some prosecco because it is a celebration after all. Say goodbye and at a second past midnight on the 4th, say hello.
The pre-birthday dinner is 'nabe' which means pot in Japan. A one pot meal of Sukiyaki --meat, vegetables, noodles and tofu in a slightly sweet broth.
